FASHION GIRL FOR JAPAN

Today, I had a privilege to volunteer for Fashion Girl for Japan at Bowery hotel. 
It was its 2nd event after our Earthquake/tsunami last year and hosted by the same organizers, Ms. Kikka Hanazawa of VPL, Ms. Tomoko Ogura of Barney's Co-op, Ms. Stella Ishii of News room and Ms. Kyoko Kageyama of 3.1 Phillip Lim.


60 designers generously donated the thousands of clothes/shoes/jewelry/bags for the event. Despite of weather many people showed up and snapped up the beautiful clothes.  It was a lot of work but so much fun to work with bunch of girls with huge heart. So honored to be a part of it!

MY PROENZA PUMPS

Since the weather got nice and now I can officially walk around without tights or stockings, I put on my new Proenza Schouler pumps for the first time!

Very safari very beautiful.  Do you see this shape? Can you see that back of the shoes are filled with snakeskin?
When you wear it, the heels are actually really high and it lifts my foot like nothing else but I just don't care. It makes my calf look better anyway (and I guess that's the point).

CHANEL WINDOWS@SAKS

Oh Chanel. Chanel. Chanel. Every gurl's dream.  There is not a single gurl in the world who never dreamed of sleeping naked with tons of Chanel bags around her (preferably sheep skin bags).  And suits. Ultimate Jackie O' moments. And shoes. And jewels. Least goes on and on...This week, Saks Fifth Avenue dedicated its 3 windows for Chanel and I felt like a teenage boy who saw Playboy for the first time.

MY DARLING MR. GURUNG

What can I say about my darling Mr Gurung? Prabal Gurung. My obsession began with his bow-tied lapel in Spring 2010.

Then his volume contrast-color coat Fall 2010.

His infamous red-one-shoulder dress Fall 11.  Classic. Scarlett O'Hara 2.0

And his resort 2012. When I saw this in Bryan Boy, I almost screamed color. 

Iconic-game-changer- Spring 2012. I had a privilege viewing his collections at his studio in person. The beauty and craftsmanship were beyond words. Just impeccable and I think I almost cried.

And he did it again for Fall 2012. Goodness just continues.

HOT PANTS 2

So I wrote about Robert Cavali's walking painting of anthropology. With all the print madness for this spring, there are more beautiful printed pants. I found this amazing Derek Lam pants. 

So jungle so fabulous.  I am also in love with Purple this spring, every since girl at Bergdorf's Tom Ford painted my face with this so-studio-54-meets-2012-fab eyeshadow.

Another wedding dress

So I guess it's a wedding dress week and I just didn't get a memo. Or maybe it's in the air.
A day after I posted the Lanvin wedding dress, yahoo showed the article about the Guiness record breaking longest wedding dress train.
At first I thought, oh it's really beautiful and romantic with hot air baloon with beautiful Romania town in the back.
But then when I really looked at this picture showing the train of 2,750 meters, it now looked like a huge toilet paper to me...
I liked the dress' top part though. Kinda McQ'ish.

Who doesn't dream about getting married in Lanvin? I saw this dress @ Lanvin on Madison and immediately thought I could get married again and again (to my hubby, of course). Look at those lace. In this long length. Just beyond words.

Perfect place would be a big lawn in Central Park....day dream continues...(someone told me that day dreaming is the key to live longer)

D&G WINDOW

Dolce & Gabbana's Madison avenue store has  beautiful window displays. Very clever. Concept is about Italian market and its clothes and accessories are the accent.

 All these vegetables with various colors complement the beautiful colorful prints on the clothes.

Besides, I think there is something interesting in relationship between food and fashion, as both of them are deeply connected to our emotions.

TOM FORD

 Tom Ford is my father. I've said it before and I say it again. We paid a visit today on Madison and took some pictures of his arts. I just need to go out with these shoes, lipsticks and clutch. So Miami so right.

Classic pumps done just right. And white-leather-bag with that detail on the side. Love it. 

I am not a big ribbon person. However, this is one of the many exceptions I'd make for him.

January Jones was on the bad-dresser list on yahoo for wearing  Roland Mouret cutout dress for her Mad Men's premier. You know I happen to like this dress. It's different from what many "celeb" wears--boring red skin tight dresses that screams Kim Kadashian.  It's cool. It's edgy. MIU MIU

I really really love Miu Miu's fall 2012 booties.  I know that the collection was all about pantsuits but I liked the velvet jacket and school girlish skirt with big colorful 70's print boots the most.  I think they are beautiful.

Fashion Star

I watched the first episode of Fashion Star and liked it. So glad that the show is not another copied version of project runway.  No challenge, no living together, no drama. Just design the damn good clothes and you will win. Simple but loud. And you can buy tomorrow. Instant accessibility is the key. Good business.
Especially loved Nichole Ritchie. The girl all grown up from her P. Hilton days. She is articulate, straight shooter, and her skin is flawless.

MR. JOE ZEE AT FIT

We took a trip down to FIT to hear Mr. Joe Zee, a creative director of Elle magazine. FIT alumni was there for the Dean's forum.  He was so inspirational, articulate, and funny.  I love that he tells it like it is, w/o sugar coating. You need that tough love to survive in 2012. I was taken by his passion for NYC as if he was still that 20 year old freshman.  Never forget who you are.

So among all the prints everyone wants to wear (or wants people to wear) this spring, I found the following

Of course, from none other than king of sexy, Roberto Cavali.

I mean shape is amazing but back is impeccable. Not just rear area but entire back legs. 

Gorgeous. Like a symbolic picture on historical stone or something from centuries ago. I actually want to say hello to every single species on the pants.  $1,320 is little expensive for a pair of pants but quite reasonable for walking painting of anthropology.

OMG. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL COLLECTION. I NEED TO GET ON THE VUITTON MIDNIGHT TRAIN IMMEDIATELY. DOESN'T MATTER TO WHERE. LOVE THE WHOLE BLUE MYSTERIOUS ATMOSPHERE. LOVE THE PORTER CARRYING THESE MOST RICH AND GORGEOUS SUITCASES EVER EXISTED. HATS ARE AS EXQUISITE; THE WAY IT FOLDS AT THE TOP, AND MATERIALS ARE IMPECCABLE. OF COURSE, CLOTHES. YES, CLOTHES. A-LINE SHAPE ALL AROUND. VERY EXPENSIVE MATERIALS; COULD BE HEAVY WEIGHT TO WEAR BUT WHO CARES. I THINK I'D MAKE LOVE TO THOSE BUTTONS! BUTTONS! CAN'T WAIT TO GREET THOSE BABIES SOON.

Raf Simons

2 weeks past, I am still sad and unsettled about Raf Simon's departure of Jill Sander. I mean weren't his collections hit after hit? Didn't he start this whole "neon color" craze? Wasn't he always so gratious and humbled? Wasn't brand more towards "forward thinking" with his young and innovative designs? I mean just look at his last collection.. that shape! that color! that length! that collar! I look forward to his next collection at yet unknown house.
